About the event
Come and join us to paint our appreciation the works of one of the worlds most prolific spiritual poets!
Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī (Persian: جلالالدین محمد رومی) more popularly known simply as Rumi, was a 13th-century Persian poet, Islamic scholar and Sufi mystic originally from Khorasan in Greater Iran (Modern day Afghanistan)
As one of the most quoted people of all time, the influence of Rumi's' words transcend national borders, religion and ethnic divisions and time.
Here at the Creative Society Manchester, we have created a workshop based on a mesmerising image of a whirling dervish, inspired by the quotes below.
The Mevlevis are also known as the “whirling dervishes” due to their famous practice of whirling as a form of dhikr (remembrance of God). Dervish is a common term for an initiate of the Sufi path.
“Don’t you know yet? It is your light that lights the world.” Rumi
