Secrets of Ancient Greece! An Art & Architecture Workshop

Join us at one of Manchester’s most architecturally unique historical buildings, The Portico library, to enjoy an afternoon of drawing and painting and creativity, surrounded by history and books!

Here at The Creative society Manchester, we believe that art and creativity is for everyone, and we create unique art, craft, and wellbeing pop-up workshops at fantastic Manchester venues!

Our events are relaxed, fun and welcoming and all our classes are suitable for beginners and are guided by friendly practicing artists and crafters. No experience is necessary for any of our events.

At this event we are concentrating on the incredible architecture of Ancient Greece, and we will be drawing and painting our own temple structure, based on the Parthenon of ancient Greece, one of the world’s most famous historical structures!

We will be looking at a slideshow of photos from a very recent trip to Athens by Porticos resident historian, Dr. Debbie Challis. This will help inspire us to add detail our own pieces!

We are also lucky enough to be able to view some incredibly rare folio illustrations of the temples we will be sketching, exclusively for our event.

As every with our Creative Society events, we like to add elements of music, film, books, and costume to our events to create a fun immersive atmosphere! Try on our Greek toga and take some fab pictures with your art piece!

The Creative arts are a wonderful tool for wellbeing and mindfulness. Our sessions are judgement free zones, designed to help our attended relax, have fun, and enjoy the process of being creative in a supportive and welcoming atmosphere.

The Portico library cafe offers a delicious range of drinks to purchase on the day, as well as a library shop where you can pick up unique books, bags, prints and lots more.
